Hyperion Financial Management 11.1.2.4 Extended Analytics

In Hyperion Financial Management 11.1.2.4, the Data Export and Extended Analytics functions have been combined into one location. Extended Analytics is used to extract more detailed data from Hyperion Financial Management applications, such as Eliminations or Contribution values.
In order to access Extended Analytic in the HFM application, expand ‘Extract’ under the Application Tasks, and double-click ‘Data’. Once the Extract Data page has opened, the first thing to establish is the Point-of-View for the data that needs to be extracted.
ExtendedAnalytics001
When you click on a dimension to choose your members for extraction, the Member Selection screen will pop up. Here, users can select single or multiple members per dimension.
ExtendedAnalytics002
Users can also select which levels and generation they want to extract. Below shows where users could select [Base], which would extract all base members for the specified dimension. If you set every capable dimension to [Base], Extended Analytics will extract all data in the application defined for that Scenario, Period, Year, and View.
ExtendedAnalytics007
Once the POV has been selected, the Extract Destination must be defined. There are several options to choose from when running Extended Analytics, the first being the Type. This is where the normal Data Extract and Extended Analytics has been combined in the 11.1.2.4 version of HFM. If ‘Flat File’ is selected, that will run a normal Data Extract. In order to run an Extended Analytics Extract, the type must be ‘Database’.
ExtendedAnalytics003
After ‘Database’ is selected, you must choose an Extract Format. As shown below, you have five options for the format: Metadata Only, Selected metadata only, Standard, Essbase, and Data Warehouse. For a normal Extended Analytics Extract, select Standard.

A Template can be created if desired, but it is not required. A template is used to save the POV and settings so that users don’t have to recreate the extract every time.
ExtendedAnalytics004
The next item that is required to select is the ‘Schema Actions’ drop-down box where there are three options: Create Star Schema, Update Star Schema, and Delete Star Schema.
Create Star Schema will create or update your relational database tables.
Update Star Schema will only work if there have been changes made to the metadata.
Delete Star Schema deletes any existing tables tied to the relational database.
ExtendedAnalytics005
The last items to select are the Options: ‘Extract Data’, ‘Extract Dynamic Accounts’, ‘Calculated Data’, and ‘Derived Data’. ‘Extract Data’ must be checked on in order to extract any data. Do not select ‘Extract Dynamic Accounts’ as they will be calculated on their own. ‘Calculated Data’ is not required, but will could potentially extract more rows of data depending on your dimension hierarchy settings. Finally, select ‘Derived Data’.
Once all of the options and drop-downs have been set up, click on ‘Extract’ in the top-right corner and the Extended Analytics extract will run and populate the defined relational database.
